Opened in 1995, the Bata Shoe Museum, is still the only footwear-dedicated museum worldwide, housing everything from prehistoric clogs to poisonous heels and adding glittery glam rock platforms to the mix with its just opened exhibit, Men In Heels.
88-year-old Bata matriarch Sonja Bata kicked off the gala alongside her granddaughter Alexandra Weston and our very own EIC Bernadette Morra, as high profile family and friends looked on with celebratory flutes in tow. As the night wore on, guests mingled with performers dressed as Marilyn Monroe and Napoleon (shoes belonging to both are currently exhibited in the museum), while shoe-based fortunes were told upstairs. If one had been told for the museum itself, we’d bet on it being pretty bright.
